About The Division of Legal Services and Company Secretary
The Division of Legal Services & Company Secretary coordinates and provides efficient and effective legal, governance and Company Secretarial services, to the Board of Trustees, University Council, Management Board, faculty, and staff on legal matters that involve or affect the University and in support of the University mission.
USIU-Africa is the only institution of higher education that is accredited as a pupillage center by the Kenya School of Law.
The Division of Legal Services & Company Secretary will be a high impact business partner coordinating and providing accurate, ethical, and strategic legal services to further USIU-Africa’s vision and mission. The Division will achieve this in an environment characterized by professionalism, integrity, courtesy and consensus-building.
The Office of Gender Equity & Protection is housed under the Division of Legal Services & Company Secretary. The office is headed by the Principal Officer- Gender Equity & Protection who reports to the Director-Legal Services. The office is responsible for ensuring adherence to the current legislation and international conventions on matters gender equity and protection within the university. Further, it provides prompt responses to and effectively stops problematic behaviour, prevent its recurrence and remedies its effects as per the provided guidelines. The office generally serves to eliminate, prevent and redress known instances of gender based misconduct or violence with fair and efficient processes that are intended to support the entire University Community.
