The games are the ultimate multisport continental event where all Degree awarding Institutions in Africa can present their own registered students aged 17 to 25 years, no matter their nationality. Such a university shall require verification by their National University Sports Federations.
The program includes: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Handball, Swimming, Taekwondo and Karate in both genders. Woodball, Roll Ball, Goalball, Sitting Volleyball and Gurasumo (Kenyan, Borana Traditional game) shall be for demonstration purposes.
The tournament shall be used to qualify African representative teams to the FISU University World Cup Soccer 2023 for both men and women in Jinjiang China.
Double Scoring System: FASU awards medals to winning athletes, and trophies to overall winning universities trophies (Men, Women and Combined) based on the Olympic medal tally system. Overall Trophies (Men, Women and Combined) shall also be given to the National Federations whose universities collect the highest medal tally. Individual Universities and Countries efforts will be recognized.

Important information on the 43rd Commencement Ceremony
Greetings,
As earlier communicated, the 43rd Commencement Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Following a resolution passed by the University Senate on August 18, 2021, this year’s ceremony will be held as a physical event on campus subject to adherence to COVID-19 protocols as prescribed by the Ministry of Health and Government of Kenya.
The event will be attended by the graduating students ONLY, and will be held subject to the following health guidelines:
- All individuals attending the ceremony will be required to adhere to all the Government helath protocols issued throught the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, and to all institutional policies currently in p;ace to mitigate the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
- Proper wearing of face masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced;
- The ceremony will be limited to the graduating students only with NO INVITED GUESTS allowed;
- All graduating students attending the ceremony will be required to present a certificate confirming that they tested negative for the COVID-19 within a period of 72 hours to the Commencement ceremony;
- The Karen Hospital, our Health Center service provider, will administer the rapid COVID tests on Wednesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 9am to 7pm on campus at a cost of Kshs. 1,400. The first 50 people will be free of charge.
The University, through the Office of the DVC-Academic and Student Affairs, will share more details on the ongoing preparations of the Commencement as they become available.

REHEARSAL:
- All students expecting to participate in the ceremony must attend a major rehearsal on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 1.30pm. The line-up will begin from parking B opposite the hostels. To participate in the rehearsal you must produce a negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Those who do not participate in the rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
- During rehearsals, the procedures of lining up, marching, seating arrangements, exiting, and so on will be presented and all matters pertaining to graduation explained. PLEASE NOTE YOUR POSITION IN THE PROCESSION. The line–up will be sent to your emails and also posted here at the appropriate time.
- Photos Sessions:
- Model Shoot: - Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 10:00am to 2:00pm
- Pick up your graduation gowns beforehand from the Registrar's Office on the specified dates above.
- On the day of the shoot, please ensure that you are formally dressed. Cultural clothing is allowed to reflect the diversity of the university community.
- For the ladies, please ensure that your make up is subtle and as natural as possible.
- All COVID-19 procedures will be observed, and you will be guided appropriately as the photo shoot takes place.
- Class Photos: - Friday, September 24, 2021 from 8:00am to 6.00pm
- Who: Anyone able to make it to be part of the Class Photo shoot.
- Location: Graduation Grounds, in front of the Library. Please come with your gown & cap.

The Center for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) will be hosting Professor Angela Benson a visiting scholar from University of Alabama, USA from May 27 – June 7 2019. She is currently a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Namibia (see Bio below). During her visit she will give a talk and conduct a workshop.
CELT would like to invite the USIU fraternity to attend the Thursday public lecture which will be open to faculty, staff and students. The Friday workshop will be limited to faculty and Deans are requested to encourage their faculty to attend especially if they want to learn how to go beyond Blackboard basics and to leverage it effectively to enhance teaching.
