Biography:

(Mr. Katsuji Nakamura is a lecturer of Japanese. He is one of the founding members of Japanese Language Teachers Association – Kenya, and served as its chair from Jan 2010 to Jan 2019. During his tenure, the association organized East African Conference on Japanese language education in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2018; and published its conference proceeding as Japanese Language Education in East Africa vol. 1 and 2. He had presented 7 conference papers on the use of SNS and manzai (Japanese comedy) in teaching Japanese, etc. and a few journal papers including “Students’Perception of Ethnicity and Learning: A Case Study of at United States International University,” Journal of Language, Technology and Entrepreneurship in Africa, Vol. 2 USIU:2009. He had been chair of Japanese language proficiency test organizing committee, and organized annual national speech contest during the tenure as well. He was voted as best male lecturer of the school from 2007 to 2011, and was awarded Faculty of the Year in 2008. He was also awarded Certificate of Commendation at Embassy of Japan at the ceremony to celebrate 50th anniversary of diplomatic relation between Japan and Kenya for his contribution to building the friendship between the countries.
