Biography:
Dr. Timothy C. Okech is an Associate Professor of Economics and is currently serving as Chair, Accounting, Finance & Economics (AFE). He holds advanced degree in Economics with a bias in Health Economics and Okech has over eighteen years in capacity building, teaching and research. Areas of experience and interest include health systems strengthening, family planning and reproductive, maternal and neo-natal health, animal health & welfare, universal health coverage, training, quality assurance, health care financing and evaluation, Trade and Transportation, among others. Okech has working experience in various countries and regions including Eastern and Southern Africa, West Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He has consulted for various multicultural and multidisciplinary environment including USAID, DFID, SIDA, African Development Bank, Brooke East Africa, National Aids Control Council (NACC), CDC/PEPFAR, GIZ, Farming Systems Kenya, Kenya Veterinary Association (KVA), Government Ministries (Eastern, Southern and West African countries), private and public sectors, implementing and development partners, regional partners (EAC, COMESA, SADC, AU) and UN Missions. Additionally, Okech has excellent training in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, Policy Analysis, health systems strengthening including universal health coverage, policy analysis, Health Care financing, health technology assessment, health resource tracking); development of e-learning and teaching/training materials in Economics. Okech is a member of various professional associations including Global Public Health, African Health Economics & Policy Association (AfHEA), Community of Practice on Financial Access, International Society for Pharmaco- economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), Abt Associates Group. He has published over forty journal articles in internationally peer reviewed Journals. In addition, he has presented papers in various local, regional and international conferences in topical areas including universal health coverage.
