By stander Intervention
The USIU-Africa active by-stander team will compromise of a specially trained student population who create a platform through interactive bystander workshops and events in the University. The aim of the by stander intervention programme is to highlight the danger of normalizing and accepting abusive behavior on or off campus and through education inform, empower and raise equitable and inclusive transformative leaders to intervene as pro-social bystanders.

How to enroll for the Bystander program
All interested students are requested to send an email to the Gender Equity and Protection Office: gep@usiu.ac.ke with SUBJECT: Become a Bystander Champion. In less than 60 words share with us your learning objectives and what drives you. A link to complete your application will be shared via goggle form. Deadline for submission is set for Wednesday, September 20. We recommend early registration.

Master Trainer of Trainer Dates: Fall Semester Cohort 2023: September 25 - 29

Mode of Delivery
The Gender Equity and Protection Office USIU-Africa leads the program. The first three (3) workshops will be administered virtually, and the last two (2) days will be physical/in-person. Participants will indicate through an online form their preferred mode of delivery and a live link will be provided where necessary. The final workshop will be class-based with approximately 25 students providing a safe space to reflect on learning.

Eligibility
This program is open to all students in USIU-Africa. The Master Trainers of Trainers will have an opportunity to speak and educate diverse audiences during events, orientation, gender week, and 16 days of activism, workshops and community projects.

Certification
All students who complete the workshop will be certified as part of the USIU-Africa Bystander Intervention Team! A certificate will be awarded upon which specific terms of reference will be shared with those who complete the program.
