Areas of interest/specialization: Organizational Sociology, Social psychology, Gender in the Workplace, Gender and Development Bio: Dr. Margaret M. Munyae is a Sociologist by training. She has extensive and versatile training background in the areas of Organizational Sociology and Social Psychology. She holds a B.A degree from Nairobi University in Sociology and French (1984) a Master’s degree from Nairobi University (August 1988) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from Iowa State University, Ames Iowa, USA (August 1996). Dr Munyae has considerable work experience acquired over the year as a lecturer, trainer and researcher. She has previously worked as a consultant in the area of gender mainstreaming in Southern Africa. She has taught over the years in the Departments of Sociology at the University of Botswana and The University of the North (Now Limpopo) in Petersburg, South Africa. Currently, Dr. Munyae is the Associate Dean and Programme Director for the General education programme in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (May 2015 to present). She is also a full time Assistant Professor of Sociology in the school of Humanities and social sciences. Her teaching interests range over a wide area covering Sociological and Social Psychological theories, Cime and Deviance, Juvenile delinquency, Race, Gender and Ethnicity, Social Stratification /Inequality, Group Dynamics and Collective Behaviour and Bargaining, to name a few.
