Recruitment of Vice Chancellor

The United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) is a leading private university in Nairobi that is accredited in both the United States (WASC Senior College and University Commission) and Kenya (Commission for University Education). Established in 1969, today USIU-Africa’s 38 programs range from the Humanities and Social Sciences to Health, Biomedical Sciences, Business, Communication, and Technology, and have continued to grow to meet the demands of a changing world. For example, 6 academic programs have been approved by our accreditors for distance/e-learning and 11 more are under review for online delivery. USIU-Africa offers its students an outstanding experience grounded in academic excellence and global outlook.

USIU-Africa is looking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as its fourth Vice Chancellor. Reporting to the University Council, the Vice Chancellor will set the vision for USIU-Africa and deliver on its strategic objectives with integrity, energy, and sound judgement. As the University’s Chief Executive, the Vice Chancellor is responsible for the university’s successful and sustainable operation, including overseeing and strengthening its finances and delivering on the strategic implementation of important capital expansion. This also includes acting as an ambassador for the university in seeking out partnerships and collaborations that will diversify income and enhance its offerings, while working collaboratively with the University Senate, University Council, Board of Trustees, and Management Board. The Vice Chancellor is the Chair of both the University Senate and Management Board.

The successful candidate will have a breadth of international experience and bring a track record of academic achievement and successful collaborative leadership, including as an astute administrator, innovator, and fundraiser. They will have excellent listening and communication skills, high levels of emotional intelligence, and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.
