Sports Update Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March 2020
KUSA Women Championship
The lady’s teams participated in the 9th Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) Women Championship at Africa Nazarene University. The Basketball team were the overall Winners after beating Kenyatta University (KU) 73-64 in their final match; In Karate, Venny Nduta won a Gold medal, Joy Talemwo won silver, while Lorraine Mbogo, Hafsa Bashir and Salma Bashir won Bronze medals. In Tae Kwon Do Mercy Were received a Gold Medal while Rukia Aden, Joan Kimani and Maureen Mureithi managed to scoop Bronze medals. Lastly in Swimming, Justine Awuor and Amanda Mavirii scooped three gold medals. This great performance from our ladies teams placed USIU-Africa 3rd overall out of 33 teams.
Soccer
In the Universities and Colleges Football League (UCFL) matches played on Saturday the men’s team lost to Zetech University by two goals to one at Kabete National Polytechnic.
Hockey
On Sunday, the ladies team lost to Blazers by a solitary goal during the Kenya Hockey Union league match at Citi Park.
