Black History Month

In 1926, a black historian name Carter Godwin Woodson established Black History Month - an annual international celebration throughout the month of February. From its humble beginnings in the United States this event now occurs in Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America.

Every year in the month of February, USIU-Africa celebrates Black History Month; a month-long global celebration that seeks to inform, educate and acknowledge achievements of the African diaspora throughout the world.
